In March 2017 two couples headed to Newfoundland for the Brier. We arrived to a extremely harsh snow storm. It took us two hours to collect our luggage ,the wind was so strong the cargo doors couldn’t be opened . Unfortunately the weather did improve very much during the week. The main reason for a great memory for this Brier was not the weather . During a game we lost power , instead of being upset, anyone that had a cellphone put on the flashlight app and started waving them like we were at a long awaited concert. A number of the curlers started playing a pigmy curling game , rocks are delivered from Hack to First House. Imagine our top curlers trying not to throw their usual weight at the height of the most important men’s event that year. The crowd was fantastic and the happiest of any game. You can’t beat the hospitality of Newfoundland.
