I have been a huge curling fan for as long as I can remember, always looking forward to watching the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier every winter on the television.

In the summer of 2019, my partner, Myles, surprised me with a weekend stay at the Moose Jaw spa for our anniversary. He told me we were going in December to spend a weekend away and do some Christmas shopping. A few months later, I opened up a card from him for my birthday and found a printout of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts logo inside. He had purchased us tickets to go to championship weekend at the Scotties! He had tricked me for months by telling me that we were going to Moose Jaw in December instead of February, and hadn’t even spilled the secret when I was often excitedly making plans for our time in Moose Jaw.

I was so excited to see my favorite teams play in person. Jennifer Jones is my all time favourite curler, and is the whole reason why I started watching curling and became such a fan of the game. I was lucky enough to get to meet her, have a quick visit with her, and get a picture together after a game. It was one of the best weekends of my life, and a memory that I will cherish forever.
