Aunt and Niece Find Connection to Lost Loved One Through Curling - Curling Day In Canada

As a child and growing up I had heard many stores around the dinner table about my Nana and Aunt partaking in their local curling club and attending Bonspeils throughout the province. It seemed like such a great time with many wonderful memories. In 2022, my nana unfortunately passed due to cancer. Although this was a hard time for my family we learnt to grieve and remember my nana in meaningful ways.

Fast forward to 2023 and I saw on the news the 2023 Scotties would be held in our local town of Kamloops. This is something I remember fondly reminiscing thinking my nana would’ve love to attend. Although at the time I had little knowledge of curling, I decided to invite my aunt to attend a game. We ended up having a wonderful time, and soon purchased more tickets for various games in the tournament. Not only did my aunt and I find connection in attending, it also felt like a way to stay connected to my nana and her interests.

I am quite keen to watch the 2024 Scotties this year and would like to continue that tradition with my aunt as a way to remember my nana, even as time progresses.
