Everyone has a Bucket List right? One item on my Bucket List was to obtain the autograph of my favourite curler. But how was I going to get it? The Bucket List journey started in 2010. A family member, Braden Zawada wanted an item from his favourite NHL team..the Vancouver Canucks. I am a huge longtime Canuck fan and was living in B.C. so I said to Braden, lets do a trade. Braden curled in the bonspiel circuit so I asked him if he could get me Johnny Mo’s autograph, I would get him a Canuck souvenir. I then sent him a large Canuck flag which he would later display over his bed. I would now wait for Braden to fulfill his part of the deal.In Oct. 2012 in Portage la Prairie at the Portage Classic Spiel Braden and Johnny Mo were both curling in this event and sadly no, he didn’t get the autograph but Doug Zawada, Bradens dad did get it. Doug asked John if he could get an autograph because there is a lady that just loves him. He smiled and signed the programmer and as he was walking away, he said tell her I love her too! When I received the programme in the mail, I was thrilled to see the whole Kevin Martin team has signed it too. Sadly it was the last season they would curl together. Now fast forward to the Brier 2014 in Kamloops. This was the year that the Brad Jacobs Team won Olympic Gold and the team made an appearance with their medals so that was an added bonus. That night in the Brier Patch I spotted Johhny Mo and made my way over to him hoping I could get a pic with him. I asked him if he knew Braden Zawada and when he said yes, I explained about the autograph. He said you’re the lady in B.C and I said yes, it was me. I then asked him if I could a pic with him. He said sure and it made my night. It was the best Bucket List Moment Ever!! I hope Johnny Mo someday makes his way back to the curling circuit..
