Burkes road bonspiel centre

January 14, 2021

I have been making a curling rink in my back yard since 2011.

We use Javex jugs filled with beach sand from the shores of the Ottawa River. No sliders or sweeping of jugs. Lots of shovelling, sweeping of ice, and flooding to ensure a perfect surface.

Upgrades due to Covid-19 this year include night lighting and an ice bar.

We are still able to gather a few friends and adhere to social distancing. In the past we have hosted bonspiels with thirty or more participants all donating to local causes such as the food bank and family services.

We are still working on a way to continue our donations to local charities.

We always love to receive bling for our bonspiel prize trunk.

Outdoors is where it’s at!!!
