In 2014 Curling for a Cause, an annual charity bonspiel in support of community causes, events and organizations in the Ottawa was founded
Each year, 24 teams descend on the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club for fun day of curling in support of a local non-profit. Each participants get a commeroratative event t-shirt, light lunch and a prime-rib buffet dinner, while also enjoying a large silent auction, draws and dancing.
Since it’s inception Curling for a Cause has raised over $64,000 for local charities including: CHEO Foundation, University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation, The Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario and the Carleton Womens 2014 Curling Team.
I am thankful for the support of the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club team and its members who have been a huge part of this successful fundraising event. I really hope that we can bring it back post-pandemic even bigger and better.
