My husband and I moved to High Level, Alberta from Edmonton in the mid to late 80’s and decided to learn how to curl.

We took curling lessons from Curl Canada or Canada Curl, something like that, and played in a local league. My parents who had curled for many years, came to High Level and the 4 of us played in a bonspiel.

I was quite pregnant with our second daughter and played lead, my husband played second, my stepmother third, and my Dad skipped. My Dad told me my rock had to reach a certain spot, no more, no less and I did it!

A few years later we moved to Sangudo, Alberta and played in another bonspiel with my parents. We didn’t win but the final day of it was Palm Sunday and one of the community groups put on a dinner for it that the curlers could attend which was really nice.
