Family Fun
Debbie-Lynn Hoste
When our kids were about 6 and 8, they had a “Rocks and Rings” program come to their elementary school to teach them to curl in the gymnasium. They all came home asking to curl….
We signed them up, and they LOVED it.
They joined Annandale’s kids curling program, and after many years of fun, unfortunately the club closed.
Then they played at the Oshawa curling club – travelling all the way from Toronto/Scarborough.
Too old for the kids club now, they moved on to their high school teams. Our daughter’s team won the Toronto City Championships – however, Covid stopped them from going to Provincials.
Our boys are now heading into the playoffs with the high school team next week.
Since they’ve enjoyed curling so much, my husband and I joined a fun league at Tam Heather last year. We’re thoroughly enjoying ourselves, and amazingly my team came in first place.
When our adult league is in need of spares — our kids have often stepped in to spare.
We’ve always enjoyed watching curling, but never thought I could, or would, ever play……
So happy we gave it a “shot”!
We would love an opportunity to be at the Brier!
Thank you!
