15 years ago I met the love of my life in a mixed curling bonspiel in Calmar,AB. We both have curled in leagues and bonspiel throughout our lives, but I never thought I would find love in more than just the sport of curling. We dated for a year and continued to curl in leagues. I went out to practise skipping a game one night at the Ellerslie Curling Rink in Edmonton,AB when I got a sparkly surprise thrown down to me on a curling rock. He proposed by tying the ring to a curling rock and throwing it down the ice to me at the other end. Good thing he didn’t hog it, haha! I said yes and of course we had a winter wedding. We have been married now for 13 years and curl together in league play and some bonspiels. We both continue to love the sport and hope someday we can convince our kids to play too!
