Hubby’s curling in past 24 years - Curling Day In Canada

Years ago when our Canadian teams were playing , in Regina, to see who would represent Canada in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake USA . My husband asked me why l was watching this curling and l told him .

I had always watched curling as long as l can remember and so l explained what they were doing. I had some limited curling from school and 4H .

My hubby became an armchair commentator , never threw a rock in his life and soon he could tell you every player male and female .

Our daughter as a teen played curling in The Pas and curled with Jessie Isles who went on to the world Junior curling when she was attending Edmonton University.

After we retired l started curling in our seniors afternoon and l asked my husband to curl as well . They were having a curling clinic so we both took the clinic, put on by our curling club.

He threw his first rock in the morning and after lunch was skipping a game. Everyone who took the clinic got a stainless mug with The Pas curling club on it.

On the Sunday of that weekend the curling club was hanging a banner of Jessie Isles that is still proudly displayed at the rink . Jessie was in attendance and was helping us on the ice with throwing techniques .

So from not ever playing before to having a world gold medal Jr. athlete sweeping for you all within 24 hrs. of throwing his first rock

What great fun and was able to send our daughter a picture of her curling skip who became a world gold winner helping her father with his curling skills.

But l must add he still prefers being the arm chair commentator . The last twenty some year’s he has developed a great love of the game of curling

He always says it a game of skill and not at all like watching paint dry. He believes that people who make that statement don’t understand the game.

And he also loves the sportsman of the game.

I would like to go to the 2025 Briar with my own personal curling commentator . So we can experience this world class curling in person ..
