Hello! My name is Dan from Vernon BC, a city of about 40 000 given surrounding areas. Our city holds a winter carnival every February where the town comes together for fun events, A recent addition to the carnival is a ‘beer first’ curling tournament. I showed up just to eat, drink, and watch. But as I sat in the cafeteria, Robbie walks up to me and says “Hey, you’re on team A&W”. I said, “No, I’m just here to drink.”
He assured me that a prominent city councilor , A.M,, had paid for an entire team’s dinner, drinks, and curling and there was a spot for me. That was all the convincing I needed. Now, most players in this event are absolute beginners so I was expecting to teach as much as I curled, hoping to get a good shot or two myself. As it turned out I was to hold the broom and my team had some decent experience. We came in first for the whole thing and got some pretty good prizes, I myself won a draw prize. I have a ‘thing’ that if you sweep for me holding the broom, you get your pick out of the prizes I win. Also, as sponsor of the team I was to give A.M. his pick of the remaining prizes. Unfortunately I don’t really know him and he is reasonably hard to get a hold of. I took a picture of the prizes and sent it to him over the internet as I was not comfortable getting into the chocolate and candy until I heard back. The next day at the grocery store he just happened to be in front of me in line like a comedy and he had indeed seen my offer. Like a gentleman he said “You won it, it’s yours.”
The next requirement in my ‘curling order’ is to offer the prizes to my mom who wanted, and took, every last prize aside from one pack of tissues.
