Participation in sports is such a rewarding and important experience for kids of all ages. I grew up around the sport of curling and had the opportunity to compete at a National level during my University years. I love the game and always will! Now that I have become a mom, I see even more the importance of sport. As a parent, we lay a strong foundation to teaching our children the fundamentals to tackling life’s challenges and help them experience success and fail situations in a safe environment. Curling is one of the best games to teach children this and what it means to be a part of a team and community, along with learning sportsmanship, perseverance, dedication, and play!

Every week I take my 2 year old son to the local Weyburn Curling Club to instil the great game of curling into him! He absolutely loves pushing rocks down the ice and even better having members of our club run over to our sheet and give him a high five and cheer him on!

The memories of my curling journey and life skills I have achieved will always last a lifetime and I can’t wait for my son to be the next generation involved in this great game! Pictured with this story is the moment after I bought my son his first curling broom! Pure joy and happiness!
